Büro Kultur- and Medienprojekte gGmbH is an agency working with international cultural projects in the context of education for sustainable development (ESD) since 1996. We are co-founders of "Eine Welt Internet Konferenz", an internet platform jointly operated by over 100 organizations providing education materials and programs on ESD for all age groups. In the city of Hamburg, where we have our offices, we are active members of "Hamburger Bildungsagenda", "Hamburg lernt Nachhaltigkeit" and we have participated in drafting the "Hamburger Masterplan für BNE 2030", a policy paper for the implementation of ESD in formal and informal education.

Our project "KinderKulturKarawane" was awarded recognition as ESD decade project throughout the years 2005 to 2015 as well as a best practice ESD network in the context of UNESCO’s Education 2030 Framework for Action. We are listed as „good practice example“ in the "Orientierungsrahmen Globale Entwicklung", a national guide to ESD for all schools in Germany which was adopted by the different ministries of education. We have also been awarded the title "Projekt Nachhaltigkeit 2020". On a national level we are working with local networks (schools, NGOs and government departments) that attend to all the arrangements needed to incorporate and organize workshops and stage performances on the local level.

KinderKulturKarawane is implementing cultural peer-to-peer learning. Young artists from different countries in the global South are presenting their view on poverty, climate change, war or forced migration. They lead workshops in which they get together with young people of their own age to share their views on global issues as well as on the sustainable development goals (SDGs).

In turn KinderKulturKarawane has developed an educational program called "CreACTiv for climage justice", in which school students in Hamburg and young artists from the global South are working jointly on the global consequences of climate change. Together they create art presentations and creative action on the issue of climate justice. In this way the project "CreACTiv" is trying to provide an impulse for the inclusion of sustainability issues in schools as well as a creative debate around the UN’s SDGs. Its long term goal is to foster ESD in schools, in classes and curricula.
