The German landscape of higher education attracts students from all over the world. STUBE Hessen offers extracurricular events for students from Africa, Asia and Latin-America studying in Hesse with the overall aim to create a space for discussing development issues from the point of view of international students. The seminars, academies and workshops connect perspectives of the Global North with perspectives of the Global South and promote a South-South dialogue in which topics relevant for the participants are being discussed. By offering these events, STUBE Hessen also aims at building up an empowering network among the students.

The interdisciplinary, study accompanying programme deals with globally relevant issues, discusses ways to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) until 2030, gives practical advice on how to find an internship or job and is open and free of charge for international students. By participating in STUBE, students can acquire competencies and skills to address the interconnected global challenges we face today as well as in the future.  We offer seminars, academies and workshops in different cities in Hesse where students can participate but also contribute topics by facilitating their own workshops at and pass on their knowledge by giving a lecture at one of these events or at their universities.

STUBE also supports international students in financing an internship or a research stay in their countries of origin. Such stays aim at building a bridge to their home countries and to prepare themselves for their future professional life and career. STUBE supports the visits abroad by covering the travel costs and the health insurance for the stay abroad.

STUBE Hessen is a project of the World University Service (WUS) in cooperation with the student associations of the Protestant Church in Germany (ESG). The programme is financed by the Hessian State Ministry of Higher Education, Research and the Arts (HMWK), and by Bread for the World – Protestant Development Service.
