Stiftung Bildung youclub2030 empowers children and young adults in youth clubs with ESD
Children need a good base to develop, evolve and grow beyond themselves. The Stiftung Bildung advocates for just opportunities to learn for all children and young adults and for making their education more diverse and participative. Founded in 2012 it is the first foundation with this cause that acts all throughout Germany.
The pilot project "youclub2030", one of the foundations innovative youth components, started in July 2022 and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research until June 2024. It focusses on supporting Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) projects in children and youth facilities. "youclub2030" promotes the participation of children and young adults for a just, diverse and livable world and supports the participants on their way to self-efficacy. The aim is to reach children and young adults in particular, whose voices are still heard little in our society and in the ESD discourse.
In the first year of funding from July 2022 to June 2023, seven children and youth facilities in Berlin and the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt were supported. In spring 2023, six new facilities were acquired, complementing the network of now 13 youth facilities in total. The institutions differ in terms of urban and rural settings, structure and administration.
All institutions that received funding in the first are also supported in this second year. Two of the six new facilities are located in Brandenburg, two in Lower Saxony and two in North Rhine-Westphalia. Each youth facility receives a maximum of 6.000 euros per funding year. The team of the Stiftung Bildung supports the partnering children and youth facilities in terms of content as well as financial administration.
The funded projects are described on https://www.stiftungbildung.org/youclub2030/. The Stiftung Bildung organises regular networking events where children, young adults and pedagogical professionals from the children and youth facilities come together. A wide range of workshops is offered at these events, such as upcycling, recycling or how to strengthen democracy and co-determination. The aim of each event is embedded in the overall vision of "youclub2030": to empower children and young adults in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and teach them about the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and project making.
